Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – June 22, 2026 – The APPT Aims Padel Revolution Open Kuala Lumpur has wrapped up — and the numbers alone set the tone. 340 players. 42 nationalities. 170 pairs across nine draws. Not only the biggest APPT tournament Malaysia has ever hosted, but the biggest Open in APPT history.
History Before a Ball Was Struck
The KL Open 2026 drew 28 Pro pairs, 55 Amateur pairs, and 87 Amateur B pairs. Notably, more than 40 Malaysian players entered an APPT event for the first time. That grassroots surge is Padel’s growth in Malaysia, made visible.
Padel Revolution, the tournament’s venue partner and Malaysia’s largest indoor padel facility, hosted the event across 7 courts with professional lighting and smart court technology. AIMS Club served as the Official Title Sponsor. Together, they set a stage that matched the scale of the moment.
Spain Takes the Pro Draws — But Not All of Them
Adria Mercadal Berenguer (ESP) and Juan Carlos Gama González (ESP) won the Pro Male title, defeating Sergi Nogueras Lorenz (ESP) and Valentino Acosta Kremnitzer (ARG) in the final. For Mercadal, it was his fifth Pro Male title of 2026 — Masters Finals, Rawai, Phuket III, Penang, and now KL. In the Pro Female final, Carla Serrano (ESP) and Patrícia Ribeiro (POR) defeated Jessica Palma (VEN) and Elysia Wan (MAS) to claim their third title together in 2026. Jadeleen Lee Jiaee (MAS) and Pablo Molina (ESP) won the Pro Mix draw — more on Jadeleen below.
The Home Nation’s Weekend
Malaysian players touched the podium in six of nine draws. Jadeleen Lee Jiaee had a weekend that stands alone: she won the Pro Mix title with Pablo Molina (ESP), won the Amateur Female draw alongside Kieatsupa (Mai) Tupanan (THA), and reached the Pro Female semifinals — also with Mai. Two titles, three finals appearances, all on home soil. Sharmilee Padmanathan and AMJ added the Amateur Mix title for Malaysia. Elysia Wan reached the Pro Female final. Angeline Chew won the Amateur B Female draw alongside Victoria Fedorova (RUS). Meanwhile, Mei Ling Young and Pauline Chua — both Malaysian — reached the Amateur Female final, losing only to Jadeleen and Mai.
Indeed, Malaysian women have now won a title at every APPT tournament held in Kuala Lumpur. This weekend extended that streak emphatically.
Indonesia, Malaysia, and a Thai-Malaysian Pair Share the Amateur Podiums
In the Amateur Male final, Chairun Abdi Maulana Siahaan (INA) and Dwi Surya Maulana (INA) defeated Samuel Nanere (INA) and Brilliant Rahadian Bahtiar (INA). Kieatsupa (Mai) Tupanan and Jadeleen Lee Jiaee won Amateur Female over Pauline Chua and Mei Ling Young, while Sharmilee Padmanathan and AMJ won Amateur Mix over Denzel Manuel (PHI) and Jessica Palma. In Amateur B, Michael Citra (INA) and Vincent Aprillio Renata (INA) claimed the Male draw, Victoria Fedorova (RUS) and Angeline Chew (MAS) the Female, and Ade Riana br Ginting (INA) and Muhammad Hisyam Harahap (INA) the Mix.
340 Players and a Sport That Is Still Accelerating
Beyond the results, the Amateur B category tells a structural story. Its introduction brought in 87 additional pairs and more than 40 first-time APPT competitors. That is padel growing from the ground up — and this weekend is concrete evidence of where the sport is heading in Malaysia and across the region.
