Pau Vergés Albareda, the new APPT Marketing & Sponsorship Director
The APPT team is growing, and it’s doing so with the addition of Pau Vergés Albareda as the new Marketing & Sponsorship Director. With its incorporation, the project adds experience and knowledge in the sector and continues to bet strongly on the development of padel in Southeast Asia.
From World Padel Tour to APPT
Pau joins the APPT team after more than 4 years working for World Padel Tour and explains how he approaches this new project: “It is an ambitious challenge, no doubt, but I feel with the motivation and conviction that APPT can be a key player in the development of padel in Southeast Asia. The World Padel Tour Marketing & Commercial team is involved in all the parts of how to develop a padel circuit, and the last few months have been an incredible learning experience. Now, it’s time to apply them to the APPT project, together with Carlos and Àlex, with whom I’m sure we’ll form a great team.”
Not only Padel but Market Research
Pau’s experience is not only focused on padel sector but also as a market research and marketing consultant. A Market Research and Marketing Master Degree allowed him to start working in Relevance Marketing. “For me, Relevance was a turning point in my career. Apart from World Padel Tour I was lucky to participate in many great projects; Market research, developing the strategy and execution of marketing plans, ROI calculation, sponsorship package development, and event organization. All this for brands such as Coca-Cola, Zur Rose, SEAT / CUPRA, KIA, Estrella Damm, El Corte Inglés, Mediapro, Aeroméxico, Hasbro… and a long list of other big brands. Projects in more than 20 countries in Europe, America, Asia, and Africa.
I’ll try to apply all this market research knowledge to be able to describe the Asian market, find the drivers, and avoid the barriers to padel penetration. However, learning by doing methodology will be essential to keep growing.”
I grew as a person in SEA, now it’s time to play professionally
Finally, not so long ago (October 2022), Pau lived for more than 6 months in Southeast Asia, so he already knows how life is there. “I was based in Singapore for 3 months (working for Relevance Asia), and then I traveled as a backpacker through Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, and the Philippines. I really enjoyed living there, and it is a point that adds appeal to the project.”
Let’s play!
